Constructivist Classroom Interaction Design and Student Development

Constructivist classroom interaction design centres on the learner’s active construction of meaning. By creating dialogic contexts, collaborative tasks and reflective practices, it promotes students’ comprehensive development across cognitive, social and emotional dimensions. Drawing upon constructivist learning theory, this paper systematically analyses the theoretical foundations and fundamental principles of classroom interaction design. It explores the cognitive mechanisms (conceptual transformation, metacognitive development), social mechanisms (social identity construction, cultivation of collaborative skills) and affective mechanisms (learning motivation, self-efficacy) through which interaction design promotes student development. Building on this, the paper further proposes four typical models: problem-based interactive design, role-playing interactive design, project-based collaborative interactive design, and technology-enhanced interactive design, and analyses their respective core contributions to student development.
