Abstract

Taking a county in Inner Mongolia as a case study, this paper examines the dual impact of the "Double Reduction" policy on the mental health of elementary school students in rural areas. The study found that following the implementation of the policy, students’ homework burden was significantly reduced, their sleep and physical activity time increased, and their overall mental health improved. However, due to disparities in resources across the county, some students have developed "new anxieties." The study proposes countermeasures, such as establishing a collaborative mechanism among schools, families, and the community, to promote the mental health development of elementary school students in rural areas.
